What I love about Legos and MicroRax and Erector sets is how few tools you need to build with them. They are purely an additive process- which also makes them perfect for collecting.

But whole schools of building depend on the removal of material: whittling, stone carving, earth-moving, dugout canoes, even papercraft...

...and there's a different sort of creativity in building by subtraction.

I need to think about this when I'm trying to improve my diet, exercise more, lose weight- I need to wear this body more gracefully than I have been. It's not as resilient as it was.

In the same way, my toybox/tool chest needs to get smaller and more specific. Choosing what not to put in it, that's a choice I have little practice with.
