I started 'late', 20 minutes after the free day had begun. "server busy, try again"

...but after clicking for 10 minutes, I get a valid page. Thus begins a slow build of an on-line order.

The real excitement began when I saw the thermometer rise. $7,000 already given away!

That number became $9,000, and $20,000, and then finally, "thank you, we've given it all away"... while I'm still waiting for my pages to load, my order to process.

And suddenly the pages are going through again, and I *can* get a screen going by pressing "next". Maybe I'm grandfathered in to the giveaway?

Um, no. In a brick and morter store, they stop letting people come into the place at a certain time, and the people already in line are let through. But I'm not really in line, I'm in bed with my laptop. So I close the page before hitting 'confirm', and call it two hours spent learning a lesson of cyberspace. I wonder if the Apple Corps giveaway was anything like this?

Maybe that's the takaway message. I'm not really out 2 hours, because I didn't spend two hours standing in line. I just spent two hours playing minefield and solitaire, and clicking refresh on a stale order page... cheap at the price!
